Switching
Switching from Checkatrade or Bark
Checkatrade and Bark send enquiries. A website is a different thing: pages in your name, that search and AI assistants can read. You can keep the directory and have a site. This is the practical difference.
What you keep
Your trading name, your photos, and the qualifications and insurance you already hold. A Google Business Profile is a Google account. It is not part of either membership.
Reviews left on Checkatrade stay on Checkatrade. We will not copy them onto the site unless you are allowed to use them. The same rule applies to anything a customer wrote through Bark.
If a domain is already registered in your name, you keep it. The profile address on checkatrade.com or bark.com is theirs. It is not a domain you can take with you.
What you would stop paying
These are published starting prices, not a quote, and not our prices. A figure in your own contract can be different.
Checkatrade
On 21 October 2026, Checkatrade’s pricing page listed three starting points:
- Free profile, £0 a month
- Approved, £30 a month
- Growth, from £59 a month
The same page says fixed plan memberships are for 12 months, and it was advertising a first month free. Offers change. The page does not say whether those figures include VAT. Growth is priced from your trade, the postcodes you pick, and how many leads you ask for, so “from £59” is not a price for every firm. We are not adding a cost per lead, because Checkatrade does not publish one on that page.
Bark
Bark’s public pricing page does not list a monthly membership. The help centre article “What is a credit and how much does it cost?”, updated 10 June 2026 and checked on 21 October 2026, says the standard price is £1.80 per credit. Packs can cost less per credit, and the article says the price can vary by package.
Each lead shows its credit cost before you respond. Bark does not publish a single price per lead, so we are not going to invent one. Credits bought from 1 November 2025 expire three months after purchase, and the article says unused credits are not refunded.
You stop the Checkatrade bill by their cancellation process, and you stop Bark spend by not buying more credits. We don’t log in and do that for you. You can keep either of them and still have a site.
How the move works
- Ask for a free homepage preview. Tell us the trade and the towns you cover.
- If you want the site, you approve the words and pick a package. Nothing is due before you have seen a draft.
- We connect a domain you control, or we register one in your name. That is for a one-off package. On pay-monthly the domain stays in Quorum Digital’s name until you buy it out.
- You decide what to do about Checkatrade or Bark. The directory and the site can run at the same time.
What happens to your domain
A Checkatrade or Bark profile is a page on their website. Leaving does not hand you a domain, because there isn’t one to hand over.
A name registered in your name can be pointed at the new site. A name registered in someone else’s account needs their transfer code, and we can’t take it out of that account. If you don’t have a name yet, we register one in your name. Renewal later is the registrar’s fee, not a Quorum subscription. That is for a one-off package. On pay-monthly the domain stays in Quorum Digital’s name until you buy it out.
